You’ve Been Warned

It’s hard for a 20 or 30 something years young to see pass, well, 20 or 30 something; but when it comes to fitness it’s important to get a grasp of the big picture. Once you’re finished with the all weight, full sculpting, no cardio approach to fitness, it behooves you to start thinking about an efficient and comprehensive method that's sustainable.

It's a misnomer to believe that functional movement is primarily for seniors. It’s actually a great foundation with long lasting effects for anyone who exercises. Too often, young, want to be fitness gurus, spew misguided and erroneous information, particularly to the middle aged because they just haven’t arrived to know how the body and lifestyle changes with age. Knowledge learned from a book or from their certification study does not match up to the experience of the seasoned fit-pro. That’s not to say there aren’t very capable young trainers, but as a client, ask questions about their approach and why they have chosen the exercises for you.

If all you’re doing is being beat up with sets and reps, more and likely you would have learned little to nothing when your relationship ends. That’s why it’s advantageous to stay abreast of the ever changing fitness industry not just to stay up on new information, but more importantly, misinformation.

Too often do I read articles that are contradictory to consensus or are simply false. Articles for example that blanket over issues as if one size fits all. Not the case; everyone is different. One thing, among many, that needs to be understood is how the body works mechanically, and that includes nutrition. You will discover that you're actually learning more about yourself and thus adopt a different approach to your lifestyle, reignite lost motivation, and be more entuned to what it is you're doing.

Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions or seek advice so that whatever it is you want to change about yourself, and there needs to be a desire to change, becomes unattainable or at best, extremely difficult. Fitness is a process that throughout your life, requires constant tweaking and adjustments and these factors are better met when one is properly informed.
